Advise on using Instant Messaging Software:

If you decide to install & use Instant Messaging software
you should be careful of the privacy settings. We suggest:

1. Set it so only messages from people on your "buddy list"
            are accepted.
        2. You should also set the preferences/options
            so that additions to the "buddy list" require your approval.
        3. Only grant approvals to people you already know.

Set up properly these services can be fairly safe to use. BUT as in
all person to person & Internet access, children should be monitored.
