• Monocytes differentiate into: (3-8%)
• macrophages - phagocytic cells in tissue
• dendritic cells - long PM extensions; found in the skin, mucous membranes, and thymus
• Lymphocytes - T cells and B cells; play a role in adaptive immunity (20-25%), huge nucleus
• Natural Killer Cells - default = kill; target infected and tumor cells
